Outrage Born In Terror (2010) DVDRip

No doubt in some central-casting lexicon under the term “indifferent psychopath killer” you’ll find actor Michael Madsen, whose husky voice and brutish good looks underlie a career playing the same Mr. Blonde character since Quentin Tarantino’s 1992 breakout film Reservoir Dogs.

In low-budget Outrage Born in Terror, Madsen proves he’s not above any role or script.

Co-written, starring and directed by newbie Ace Cruz, Outrage begins promisingly with pretty Christine (suitably played by Katie Fountain) being chauffeured, along with her best friend/wannabe groom (Cruz), to a corporate jet she will fly to visit a mansion in the woods she inherited.

Unbeknownst to Christine, her backpacking sister and boyfriend (who are supposed to meet her at the house) have been killed by Farragute (Madsen), an ex-military nut job in command of a trio of stereotypical hillbilly goons.

With robbery the apparent motive, Farragute and Co. commit a rather nasty home invasion, underscored by the attempted rape of Christina’s friend Molly (former American Pie star Natasha Lyonne) and execution killing of her husband (Derek Lee Nixon).

Throw in a formulaic chase scene and questionable FX, with the DVD cleverly ensconced in Madsen box art, and Outrage is a surefire rental. Alas, with underutilized fright icon Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes, The Devil’s Rejects, etc.) and a creepy banjo player (Billy Redden) in the cast, filmmaker Cruz ignores elements for weaving a more endearing tale from the rural southern dark side.
